Our Story

Hi! I’m Jill, Founder & Head Designer here at Spark of Wild. People often ask me how I came up with the brand so here’s our story…

I was pregnant with my first baby and was going through the list of everything you need to buy. You know that list with things like a pram, cot, nappies etc. One of the things was of course- a Nappy Bag. I’ve always loved bags, particularly stylish designer bags in gorgeous leathers. The thought of carrying some ugly bulky Baby Bag made me a little sad, haha! There just wasn’t much around in the way of a ‘cool’ Nappy Bag, so I thought, why not just design my own. Having background in Fashion design meant it was a natural fit to be creating something for new mummies that was both stylish and practical. I started with just one bag, the Isla Nappy Bag (named after my daughter) and it took off from there.

I came up with the name Spark of Wild after looking through some song lyrics. The name just resonated with me as I think I’ve always been a bit of a wild child myself. I thought what a name for us new mums! Why do we have to lose that Spark of Wild when we become mummies? Aren’t we the same person as we were pre-baby? All our pieces are really considered in the design process, and we always think- would we have used this pre-baby? We want Spark of Wild to be cool mum stuff that you can’t find anywhere else!

The style of Spark of Wild is minimalistic, modern and luxe. We don’t really design ranges or do anything seasonal, as we would hope that the bags are used year-round and go with all your different day to day outfits. We want your Spark of Wild Baby Bag to sit in your wardrobe for many years to come. We focus on using beautiful leathers that are soft and slouchy. None of our bags are overly big and bulky, and we try and ensure all the bags are able to fit in the basket below your pram.

As a designer, I’ve constantly got so many ideas in the pipeline. So, stayed tuned for more new lovely things to come.
